Christopher Polvoorde's Baja 1000 Ended Early After Leading for 300 Miles

Christopher Polvoorde and Co-driver, Drew Becerra were on pace to have a great Baja1000 in the No. 204 Optima Batteries powered Ford Raptor. Early on, the boys had a 15 minute lead going into Pit #1 at RM 157 where they would take fresh Toyo Tires and a full tank of VP Racing Fuel. The crew also added fluid to the rear differential which took some extra time, but CP was back on the course without losing any positions.

Christopher was having a textbook race clicking off miles and not taking any unnecessary risks while leading the Trophy Truck Spec class for over 300 miles. At RM 307, CP handed the truck off to Ray Griffith and Adam Carpenterin 1st place for them to take the No. 204 well into the night. They kept cruising along at a great pace adding a few minutes between them and the next spec truck on the road over the next 50 miles.

Around RM 350, Adam noticed the race truck was losing oil pressure. They stopped to check the truck out and add oil then continued on to meet up with a chase vehicle to attempt to fix the issue. After attempting to "band-aid" the motor, the CP94 team had decided to call the race due to a motor failure.

"It was very painful to call the race at RM362 after all the hard work that went into making this race happen, but there was nothing we could do. We were running at a really solid pace and as they say, it was great until it wasn't. We've got a championship team here at CP94 and I am excited to see what next year brings."
