On Sunday, January 30th, day two of The Toyo Tires Desert Challenge Presented by Monster Energy at King of the Hammers was set to take place. This race included the top 3 desert classes of Trophy Truck (T1), Spec Trophy Truck (T2), and Class 1 Buggy (B1). The morning would start with a 33 mile "prologue" lap to set start position followed by the race which was (3) 84-mile laps. The Prologue and all 3 laps would be combined to achieve the overall race time. Christopher and co-driver, Bryce Romine, put together a very fast prologue lap earning the top spot in T2 which was good for 9th overall. Their fast pace would continue throughout the day as they put together an exceptional race capturing 1st place in the T2 (Spec Trophy Truck) class. Not only did they get the class win, but they finished 2nd overall beating out top contenders in the T1 (Trophy Truck) class. Polvoorde and the #294 Spec TT crossed the finish line just 5 minutes behind the winner of T1 with a time of 4:55:45.094. This 1st place finish is a big one for Christopher and the CP94 team as it is the first win in his Optima Batteries powered Ford Raptor Spec Trophy Truck.
Toyo Tires Desert Challenge Results Christopher and Bryce ran a clean race with no penalties. Co-driver, Bryce Romine, did hop out of the truck on two occasions to change a tire which he did very quickly to get the truck back on the road each time without losing their position. The #294 Mason Motorsports Spec TT does have a hydraulic onboard jack system which makes a tire change much quicker as the driver does not have to get out of the race truck.
"I am so pumped on the T2 win and finishing 2nd overall at KOH. This has been a long time coming and I'm glad we were able to get it done. My crew has put their hearts and souls into this truck so it's awesome to get that win for them. You always remember the first win so this 2022 KOH will always be with me." -Christopher Polvoorde
"I've got to give a huge thank you to my whole crew especially, Jimmy Davidson, for building a beast of a truck. Thanks to my best friend and co-dawg, Bryce, for putting in the work in and out of the race truck and during pre running. Thanks to my family and friends who are all so supportive, and a very big thank you to all the partners who support the CP94 program." -Christopher Polvoorde Follow along on Christopher's Instagram and YouTube for live race updates, videos and to get upcoming race info! About KOH & ULTRA4 from ULTRA4racing.com
ULTRA4 Racing is the official web site of Hammerking Productions. The founders of Hammerking are the force behind the toughest one-day off-road race on the planet: King of The Hammers.
King of The Hammers takes place each year in February, on public lands in Johnson Valley, CA. The race has evolved from 12 teams racing for bragging rights and a case of beer, to more than 300 teams competing before more than 35,000 fans in person and nearly 500,000 watching online. Due to the incredible success of King of the Hammers, Hammerking has created an ULTRA4 Racing Series with seven races held throughout the country.
Each of these races is a qualifier for the King of The Hammers race each year. In addition to these races, Hammerking has established a racing class known as the ULTRA4 class. The defining characteristic of this class is that all cars must be capable of 4-wheel drive. Beyond that, the class is unlimited. These cars come in all shapes and sizes and are capable of speeds over 100+ MPH and still contain gear ratios as low as 100 to 1 for technical rock crawling.
To give these cars and their drivers a chance to showcase their unique capabilities, Hammerking has formed the ULTRA4 Racing series. The series challenges drivers to compete in a wide variety of terrain from endurance desert racing to competition-style rock crawls to short course racing. Hammerking currently produces seven races in the series. Currently ULTRA4 has 8 races in the US, 4 races in Europe, 1 race in Australia, and an exhibition in China. These races take place on both public lands and in private property around the world.
Hammerking Productions has also produced 8 full-length feature films chronicling King of the Hammers races. We manage our own live production which is seen every year by millions of followers online. These award winning movies have helped shine a spotlight on this new form of racing throughout the world.
